From biblical times through today some believers
don’t know (Acts 19:2AMP) about the gift God wants to give in the person of the
Holy Spirit after they confess Christ and decide to accept instead of reject
the will of God(Acts 2:38). The cliché
it’s not what you know it’s who you know could not be truer when it comes to
the importance of establishing a relationship with the third part of the person
of God, his Holy Spirit. Another cliché well known and widely accepted is that
as people we can’t miss what we never had. After learning about the existence
of the Holy Spirit and what God’s word says about whom God wants us to allow the
Holy Spirit to be in our lives, we learn nothing could be further from the
truth.
In times of crisis the Holy Spirit is sent by
God to be our comforter. When we need assistance he is our helper. Praying for
others and ourselves he is our intercessor. If we feel defenseless he is our
advocate. Instead of allowing us to become weak he is our strengthener. Should
we ever feel alone he is our standby. Jesus himself stated when he left the
earth God would send the Holy Spirit to act on Jesus’ behalf in our lives.
Christ stated the Holy Spirit would guide and teach us leading us into all
truth. When life is overwhelming or the enemy tries to snatch away the words
God desires for us to plant in our hearts, the Holy Spirit brings the word of
God back to our remembrance (John 14:26 AMP).
Submitting to the will of God and habitually
deciding to be led by the Holy Spirit garners intangible rewards that everyone
who sees you will recognize. Inviting the Holy Spirit to live inside of you
will bring peace (Romans 8:6 AMP) to your soul. Fortify so much hope in you
that God’s love will be able to flow through your heart (Romans 5:5AMP). When
you are continually filled throughout your soul with the Holy Spirit in times
of persecution for Christ’s sake you will have joy (Acts 13:52). There are no
special hoops you have to jump through or lineage you have to come from to
“qualify” to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. He is a powerful gift God
wants every believer to ask for and receive. Pray the prayer below and open
your soul to be filled for the first time or refilled with the gift of the Holy
Spirit.
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for sending
your son Jesus to die on the cross for my sins. I want to change my views and
know your purpose and accept your will for my life instead of rejecting it from
this day forward. Thank you for your forgiveness and releasing me from my sins.
Please diffuse me throughout my entire soul with your Holy Spirit, in Jesus
name.
